Tasting notes:
This is a fascinating wine, as is the way it is made. Hailing from the Veneto region of north east Italy, it’s an incredibly, rich, lusty, concentrated style of red, often with pretty high alcohol levels. A proportion of the bunches of grapes are dried in the sun, to concentrate the grapes, and increase the amount of sugar in them. The result is a dense, brooding, handsome wine, oozing dark, licoricey, prune and dried fig fruit. With layer upon layer of chewy mocha and dark fruit flavours, the concentration of flavours is remarkable, especially at this price. This is definitely a wine for the heartiest of stews,, majestic roast beef, or a slab of top quality cheddar or parmesan.
