Bulgaria
Bulgaria produces mainly red, though there is a fair amount of white consumed domestically - but it's not highly recommended. On the red side, Cabernet Sauvignon is the grape that dominates and the style that is made is usually soft, easy-drinking, heavy on the raspberry and plum side of the taste scale rather than blackcurrant.
Major white grape varieties: Aligoté, Chardonnay Rkatsiteli.
Major red grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Mavrud, Melnik.
