"Chris Keet describes the 2020 growing season as a "vintage handed to you on a silver platter". The resulting First Verse, sourced from eight sites in the Helderberg, Polkadraai Hills, Simonsberg and Stellenbosch Mountain sub-regions of Stellenbosch is another gem of a blend. It is based on Cabernet Franc, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Scented, seamless and refined. Tasting Note
The Cabernet Franc adds the spicy, restrained elegance and fine-grained tannins, the Merlot introduces plum and red berry flavours, while the Cabernet Sauvignon provides rigidity with firm tannins and blackberry and cassis flavours. The rich and ripe mulberry flavours of the Malbec are balanced by the fresh red berry acidity provided by the Petit Verdot.
