Château de Beaucastel's vineyards lie at the northern limit of Châteauneuf du Pape. However, some of their vines are found outside the designated border of the appellation, which means wines made from these grapes must bear the Côtes du Rhône label rather than enjoying the cachet of Châteauneuf. The 30 hectares of Coudoulet are just east of Beaucastel's vineyard, but they are blessed with very similar conditions. Like its big brother, this 'Baby Beaucastel' benefits from large pebbles in the vineyard, called galets roulés. These take in the heat during the day to help maximise grape ripeness and concentration. In addition, the wines are crafted with the same meticulous care. Savour this luxurious white with roast chicken, monkfish or pork.
