The family-owned Chateau Millegrand's status as one of the Languedoc's finest has been confirmed with a flood of medals over the years. The 2008 vintage was another cracker at the great Chateau, allowing wine consultant Georges Pauli - of #50-a-bottle Chateau Gruaud Larose "One of the Medoc's finest" (Robert Parker) - to work his magic once again. And Millegrand's 2008 delivers gorgeously concentrated flavours and simply oozes finesse. The fruit (Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Mourvedre) was hand-picked from 60-year-old vines and gently crushed, before the wine spent a full 12-month slumber in fine oak. This is a great buy for lovers of rich, complex and delicious reds.
