Tasting note A rich golden bronze, this Lowland single malt whisky is aged in bourbon barrels, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin aromas initially lead to a fruit-laden and syrup-like palate. Hazelnut with hints of cinnamon and lemon intertwine with a butterscotch sweetness, adding to the overall complexity and the signature smooth, delicate Auchentoshan taste. Auchentoshan has a rich history dating back to 1823, when the distillery was established at the foot of the Old Kilpatrick Hills, on the north bank of Glasgow’s River Clyde.
