Von der Fels means "from the rocks" and this dry Riesling is a blend of young vines from the Grosses Gewächs vineyards that Keller works. These "Grosses Gewächs" sites are to Germany what "Grand Crus" are to France, meaning "great growth". This Riesling is his 'entry level' bottling, but he considers it an important calling card for his estate and it consistently shows incredible complexity and intensity for its price point. Lime peel leads on the nose, followed by white blossom and green herbs too. Assertive acidity keeps the palate fresh, with intense citrus and tropical fruits, elegant salinity, and a long mineral finish.
