A great selection from our favourite Italian wineries.
Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi DOCG, 2019: Bright yellow color, delicate bouquet of flowers and fruit with a scent of peach. Full and rich flavour, the complete grape-ripening gives a wine which is soft on the palate with a fine aromatic flavor at the end.
Vette di San Leonardo Sauvignon Blanc, 2018: "Lots of sliced green apples and mouthwatering gooseberries on this one, and not, thankfully, much in the way of pyrazine character. Good body and oiliness on the palate, but it’s also taut and quite vivacious. Drink now." 92 pts, James Suckling
Volpi Terre Siciliane Grillo, 2019: A straw yellow colour, with fine and elegant aromas of grapefruit and citrus blossom. On the palate there is an abundance of citrus fruit and a nice minerality.
Castello Romitorio Chianti Colli Senesi, 2018: 100% Sangiovese from Tuscany. Deep in colour, this elegant and full body wine has a great balance between fruits (red cherries and red currants) and earthy, leathery notes. This wine is versatile enough to pair with most meats.
Rosade Furlane Merlot Venezia Giulia IGT, 2018: A great Tuesday night supper bottle, easy lunch-time red, it would be quicker to list the things this wouldn't pair with rather than those which would.
La Giaretta Valpolicella Volpare, 2018: Look no further than this for the ultimate in crunchy red fruits and supple Summer berries.
