Barbeito was founded in 1946 by the current winemaker Ricardo Freitas grandfather. In the 30 years he has lead the company, Ricardo has made the Barbeito name synonymous with the highest quality and most vibrant and exciting Madeiras available. This Boal Reserva Velha 10 Year Old comes mainly from selected vineyards in the Campanario area of the island of Madeira, close to the Atlantic Ocean. The wines are aged naturally in oak casks in the warm warehouses of Barbeito. This delicious blend is filled with aromas of oil-rich nuts, caramel, figs, wood and a touch of iodine. With a smooth honeyed palate, caramelized nutty flavours and excellent acidity in the spicy, fresh finish, it is excellent as digestif, with Christmas pudding, chocolate, glace fruits and cheese.
