Villebois Sauvignon Blanc Tasting Notes by Wine Expert, David Andrews, DipWSET
French Sauvignon from the Loire is always my preferred style of the grape. Compared to New Zealand, the French winemakers go for a much more restrained and elegant palate, without going overboard on tropical fruits. You'll find it balanced out by more herbaceous notes of fresh cut grass, nettle and even some asparagus. The tropical fruits are the undertone, including gooseberry, mango, papaya and passion fruit which provide a great dial up in flavour but without being overriding.
