The winery Castello di Bolgheri is the historical nucleus of the winegrowing around Bolgheri. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the Viale di San Guido, which runs dead straight, is almost five kilometres long and is decorated on both sides with around 2,000 cypress trees. Today, the vineyards are spread around the medieval village on a total area of 1,220 hectares, of which 1,050 hectares are used for the production of Bolgheri DOC. A small, but fine group of winegrowers cavort in the cultivation area, which provides for a moderate production.
