Tavel was granted cru status at the same time as Châteauneuf-du-Pape back in 1936 and produces exclusively rosé wines that are making a bit of a resurgence in popularity. Located across the river from Châteauneuf, it contains three distinct terroirs - sand, limestone and the famous 'galets roulés'. This is a traditional Tavel rosé that provides a lovely juxtaposition to the super pale, trendy rosés also crafted in Provence, being deeper, more concentrated and loaded with dark berry fruit character.
