Tasting notes:
Picpoul de Pinet is a relatively new arrival to the wine fashion stakes, and has graced many a terrace bar, barbecue and picnic this summer. But it’s not just a Summer white, it has a lovely, zesty freshness, which makes it perfect with seafood all year round. Picpoul is the name of the grape, and it’s grown on the shores of the Mediterranean in Southern France. It’s lively, zippy, and tangy, with vibrant aromas and flavours of freshly cut lemons, green apples, with a hint of fresh fennel on the finish. Bone dry, but with fullness and real character, it’s just the wine for the new oyster season, and for pan fried white fish, or a bowl of steaming mussels.

The best wine find of the past 2/3 years. It's now my 'house' wine and knowledgeable friends who try it for the first time are always amazed at how good it is but I never tell them it's only £7 a bottle
