Another expression of 100% Carricante from a vineyard in Santa Maria di Licodia, which is next to Milo where Musmeci is grown. It is 900 metres up and planted with 80-90 year old vines.
Although barely a kilometre away the differing terroir creates a very different wine.
"The Etna Bianco Carricante A' Puddara is a terrific wine with lots of territory-driven character. This is a lean white wine that shows enough volume and texture to be considered a mid-weight wine to pair with shellfish or more sophisticated seafood dishes. The bouquet offers a lot of fragrant intensity with preserved lemon, white peach and crushed volcanic rock. Some 10,000 bottles were produced. Fruit is sourced from pre-phylloxera vines planted 940 meters above sea level." 91/100, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
