Noted as one of the `greatest wines made in South Africa` by acclaimed wine writer John Platter and highly rated at Veritas, this intensely sweet port style wine is a tribute to the tradition of Robertson`s winemaking roots. It is a unique dessert wine made exclusively from bush vines planted on 0.25ha of Rietvallei Estate in 1908, the oldest Red Muscadel vineyard in South Africa. At 100 years of age, these grapes are superbly concentrated in flavour, colour and body of their juice. A tiny crop of hand picked, raisiny grapes is fortified with grape spirit to produce a reddish tawny wine, the nose develops rich Muscat perfume and strong botrytis character. On the palate the wine lingers and fills the mouth with its luxurious complexity.
