Wine DOMÄNE WACHAU - Located in the valley of the same name, Domäne Wachau is led by Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber, producing wines from small steep parcels along the Danube that are hand cultivated by winegrower-owner families. Many of these world-renowned parcels offer wines of great structure and elegance. At Wachau, the iconic Austrian domaine, harvesting is done by hand on the Federspiel? terraces, along the Wachau Valley. The in-cellar grape selection is demanding with the grapes then being pressed in a pneumatic press. This is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation and lees ageing in stainless steel vats. Riesling is an ancient variety, cultivated since the Gallo-Roman era and was created in Germany near the Rhine. It is cultivated around the world and loves light, shaly soils. Here, it gives the wine a great complexity supported by a good acidity. Federspiel Terrassen 2021 Riesling opens onto a ripe, finely concentrated nose packed with spiced Riesling grapes and mixed with iodine and smashed stone notes.
