Three classic wines carefully chosen to add a sense of occasion to any dinner party (or just a nice 3 course meal). Kicking off with an unbelievably good value Champagne which has a richness and length that defies the price. A fascinating Riesling from Alsace that we would like on our tables for the weekend. Finally a deliciously rich Amarone with fine tannins, great structure and a lush quality to it.
Frerejean Frères Premier Cru Brut, NV: An expressive nose of dried fruit, honey and almonds, produces flavours of apples; pears, candied fruits and brioche
La Giaretta della Valpolicella Amarone Classico, 2016: "It's pure Black Forest Gateaux in the mouth with edges of cedar and a wonderful whack of creamy oak on the finish. Fine tannins, great structure and a lush quality to it. Once you've tried this wine you will be hooked!'' Tom Harrow, Wine Guru.
Zind Humbrecht, Riesling 'Herrenweg', 2000: The nose shows a surprising nice minerality for the Herrenweg, usually fruitier and simpler. Yields are also very small! The palate has the structure of a tight limestone Riesling, with a crisp saline acidity. Low residual sugars, so the finish is quite dry and long.
