The history of the Massolino family and their wine became entwined with the history of Serralunga d’Alba in 1896 when Giovanni founded the estate. An enterprising, tenacious and creative man, Giovanni was also the first person to bring electricity to the village. The family has been making wine now for four generations and were in fact the first producers in the region to bottle their own wines. With 18 hectares of historically prominent vineyards, a wealth of experience has passed down over the years and the enthusiasm of the younger generations maintains a passion and character that can be tasted in the very Massolino wines they create. Tasting Note: Ripe, plummy, blackberry fruit characters on the nose of this 2006 envelop delicate hints of vanilla that come from ageing in barrique. On the palate this wine is intense, ripe and concentrated with good depth of lively plum
