Le Pont du Diable, near the ancient town of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, is a familiar sight for many lovers of French wines. Built by monks nearly 1,000 years ago, it spans the gently flowing Hérault river, on which many of the region's greatest vineyards depend.
