Laibach were the first certified organic block in Stellenbosch and this wine has become a benchmark for organic wine production in South Africa. Named in tribute to the 3,000 Ladybirds that are released each January to combat the presence of the mealybug and protect the vines. These little creatures are a remarkable deterrent and avoid the need for the use of pesticides to eradicate pests. This wine is a Merlot dominated Bordeaux blend, and has a complex nose with hints of spice, chocolate and mocha. Good structure with plum and mineral complexity and a lingering finish. Showing graceful elegance, this wine over delivers on quality and showcases this estate as one of the leading lights in South Africa.
