Montalcino is world-famous for the consistently excellent Brunello, a very big and meaty expression of the Sangiovese grape. The 'rosso' doesn't conform to the strict rules to become an official Brunello di Montalcino. However, much of that is to do with barrel ageing and not the quality of the grapes. So, if you like a wine with great fruit depth but more elegance in structure, La Serena's youthful rosso is the wine for you. A great value way to enjoy some of the best Sangiovese in the world.
