The Henschke estate practises biodynamic farming; "I would like to see the next generation inherit a fertile and sustainable land. Using the principles of biodynamics and organics enables me to create the best environment for plant growth." This attractive, fragrant blend is named as a tribute to great-aunt Ottilie Mathilde ‘Tilly’ Henschke, one of the many remarkable women of the era where daily life was a far cry from the ease of today.
"Five different white varieties went into the 2016 Tilly's Vineyard. It's 50% Sauvignon Blanc (unusually high for this wine), 15% Sémillon, 14% Pinot Gris, 13% Riesling, and 8% Chardonnay, sourced from the Adelaide Hills and Eden Valley. Beeswax, lime and gooseberry notes lead the way, followed by a light to medium-bodied wine with a plump mid-palate. It's subtle and understated, finishing with hints of gentle citrus." 89/100, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate
"Brilliant, pale straw-gold with lime-green hues. Attractive, fragrant aromas of guava, white nectarine, yellow apple and gooseberry, with floral hints of white petals and clover blossom, and underlying notes of sherbet, lemon curd and lime leaf. The textural palate is full of rich stone-fruit and apple flavours, with hints of nashi pear, white currant, mint and lime leaf, supported by a ripe citrus acidity. A wine that shows excellent shape and balance as well as a long, lingering and flavourful finish." Henschke
