Fonseca shipped its first vintage Port to London in 1840, and by the mid-19th century had established the Houses wines as some of the most sought after in England. Deep inky ruby in colour with a broad red rim, Fonseca shows a seductive nose redolent of blackcurrant, cherry and ground coffee. A full round palate is supported by thick, well-integrated tannins. An abundance of luscious chocolate and blackcurrant flavours linger into the long velvety finish. This is a wine poised between youth and maturity. Walnuts are an excellent accompaniment to Vintage Port, as are blue-veined and other richly flavoured cheeses. Alternatively, dried fruits, such as apricots or figs, make an excellent pairing. 19% ABV
