Real Companhia Velha, the producers of this wine, was founded in 1756 by the King of Portugal. They are the oldest wine company in Portugal, with 260 years of winemaking experience to draw upon, and they now represent some of the finest Quintas in the Douro. This wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouchet, Aragonez, and Trincadeira grapes, from vineyards in Lisboa where all the work is carried out in a sustainable manner. Once the grapes are brought into the winery they are fermented in stainless steel tanks, without any contact with oak, meaning that each variety contributes its unique character and flavour to the blend. The result is an approachable and easy drinking style of red with an elegant structure.
