Born in 2005, this modern winery boasts vineyards with ancient properties and almost all female management, including the current CEO Ilaria Petitto, who decided to dedicate herself to grape development. Ilaria is supported by her mother Chiara, the niece of Donna Chiara Mazzarelli Petitto, for whom this company is dedicated.
"Lovely nose of mango, mangosteen, lime blossom and fresh sage. It’s full-bodied with excellent fruit intensity and tangy acidity. Very concentrated. Racy and energetic. White pepper notes, too. Drink or hold." 94 pts, James Suckling
"The 2018 Fiano di Avellino Empatie takes some time to open up in the glass; but once it does, the result is worth the wait. Here I’m finding a rich expression of Fiano, showing a mix of dried peach and apple with sweet herbs and spice, as dusty florals come forward, along with a hint of damp earth. On the palate, silky textures are contrasted by a mix of orchard fruits, further energized by brisk acids, as savory herbs and inner florals develop toward the close. The finish is long, adding a bit of a zesty kick, along with saturating minerals and savory spice which lingers on. From the bouquet, I was expecting a big and ripe expression, yet the 2018 Donnachiara Empatie is balanced to a tee, and with the density of its fruit, it should be amazing to revisit after a year or two in the cellar." 92 pts, Eric Guido, Vinous
"Pungent, and penetrating, immediately herbal, lemon thyme, salt and smoke, preserved limes, quince, capsicum, meadow grass, wet slate and struck match
lean and lively, focused, pure and intense, sinuous, lemon verbena, very zesty, tangy and crunchy with chalky acidity. Hugely refreshing, strict but not austere." Tom Harrow, Wine Guru
