Whilst the family history goes way back, it was only in 2005 that these gifted & talented winemakers established Donnachiara in Southern Italy's Avellino. Since then they have become one of the most important growers in the region, receiving acclaim from several major critics, scores you would normally find only in Piemonte or Tuscany, and winning the hearts of wine lovers in Italy and beyond.
To help you get started we've put together a discounted Discovery Selection, comprising two bottles of each. At barely over £20 a bottle inc VAT (yes, you read that correctly!), including immediate free delivery, what more could you possibly want!?
Donnachiara 'Aletheia' Greco di Tufo Riserva, 2018: "Honeysuckle, heather honey, quince paste, lemon sherbet. Wild rosemary, as opens a hint of French country butter appears.
Waxed lemons, fresh fig, tight and taut, bristles with energy, acidity is well judged, gives precision and length to the grapefruit, ripe melon and citrus and fruit. Gorgeous." Tom Harrow, Wine Guru
Donnachiara Aglianico Campania IGT, 2019: "Layers of ripe plums, orange peel, sweet tobacco and licorice on the nose. Smoke, ash, some tar and cedar, too. It’s full-bodied with firm but smooth tannins. More citrus-peel, dried-fruit and spice notes continue to a rounded, lightly bitter finish. Drink from 2022." 93 pts, James Suckling
Donnachiara Empatia Fiano di Avellino, 2019: "Lovely nose of mango, mangosteen, lime blossom and fresh sage. It’s full-bodied with excellent fruit intensity and tangy acidity. Very concentrated. Racy and energetic. White pepper notes, too. Drink or hold." 94 pts, James Suckling
Donnachiara Fiano di Avellino DOCG, 2020: Delicate bouquet which elegantly combines hints of almonds, walnuts and floral notes (acacia) with notes of tropical fruit. A real pleasure to taste
Donnachiara Falanghina Beneventano IGT, 2020: "Pear skin and pear drops, lightly lactic, basil, lemongrass. Green and yellow apple, vein of chalky acidity, stony finish. Tom Harrow, Wine Guru
Donnachiara Taurasi DOCG, 2017: "A very polished, intense aglianico with blackberry, blueberry, rose-stem and wet-earth aromas and flavors. What really impresses is the polished nature of the tannins that caress and massage the palate. Love the finish, too. A special wine. Drink or hold." 95 pts, James Suckling
