Arriving in Saint-Émilion during the 'garage period' in the 1990s, when breaking the rules of classic Bordeaux was all the rave, winemaker Jonathan Maltus soon gained a reputation for being able to produce a range of wines which stood out just as successfully for being unique as for being top quality. He even has a perfect 100 point score from Robert Parker for his most prize St Emilion. And he uses this same 'no expense spared' approach to winemaking with the Pezat Bordeaux Superior. The grapes come from vineyards that are based on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, from low yielding 25 to 40 year old Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines. The fruit is handpicked and hand-sorted and spends 12 months in oak barrels before release. The result is a very fine Bordeaux which we urge you to drink now (but will also age beautifully).
