“The 2016 Pontet Labrie is a dark, sumptuous Saint-Émilion. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate and smoke all flesh out as this powerful, explosive wine shows off its personality. Full-throttle to the core, Pontet Labrie will thrill readers who enjoy luscious, bold wines. There is plenty to admire here.” 94/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan-2019)
"This is a blend of 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc cropped at 32 hectoliters per hectare on 10 and 14 October, respectively, and matured in 80% new oak. It has a ripe crème de cassis and blueberry-scented bouquet with flecks of dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite lively and with a sorbet-like freshness towards the finish. I was impressed by the 2015 last year, and this is a sterling follow-up." 92-94/100 Neal Martin (Apr-2017)
““The blend here is 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc, and the élevage was in 80% new oak. It begins with a rather shy character on the nose, all vanilla flower and cocoa bean, with a sprinkling of limestone dust. The palate shows a rich and broad texture, polished with a substantial grip underneath it, but with a very svelte and elegant bed of tannins. It feels cool and composed, the rich seam of tannins showing some impact in the middle of the wine, which remains silky and substantial at the same time. It carries the flavours of leather, coffee bean and degraded black cherry fruit. Overall, a delight, with a long and grippy finish." 95/100 Wine Doctor (Chris Kissack)

The entire production of this boutique wine (300 cases maximum per year) is available exclusively from Honest Grapes.
