Chateau La Garde is a traditionally run property whose wines - according to Robert Parker - "represent excellent value". Situated in Pessac-Leognan, a small area of the Graves, just south of Bordeaux. Strangely, although the area is the home of world-famous Chateau Haut-Brion, the region remains fairly unknown. The soil of the district is deep gravel which helps to produce particularly good concentration in the wines. Made purely from Sauvignon Blanc, this fine white Bordeaux has all the hallmarks of a truly top Graves, and 2006 was a particularly successful year for whites - "Some of these wines are stunning."
