Llumí Negre 2018 is a blend of Syrah (68%), Tempranillo (17%) and Carignan (15%). The Syrah is from 30 year old vines, grown at 380m on the shelf to the west of Gandesa. The Tempranillo and Carignan vines are 25 and 15 years old respectively, grown at 400m in the Mas de Cabrera vineyards in Gandesa. Soils in both locations are rich in limestone with very little organic matter. All vines are dry farmed. After a hot dry summer, Syrah and Tempranillo were picked on the 1st of September, and the Carignan at the end of the month.
The nose has tints of raspberry and graphite. The palate is again dominated by red fruits with darker overtones combining licorice and spice.
