Delivered in a wooden gift box, Fortnum's Brunello di Montalcino is obtained from a meticulous selection of Sangiovese grapes, cultivated in the estates best vineyards located in south Montalcino, with a south-west exposure. The wine is the result of scrupulous work, in keeping with antique traditions to maintain the fullness of the fruit and brings out the quality of a wine with a history and tradition that are added to every bottle. It is then aged in Slavonian and French oak barrels for about 3 years, followed by 2 years ageing in bottle until ready for release.Exceptionally bold fruit flavors, including cherries and dried cranberry, blend with earthier notes of espresso and soil. On the palate, there are mouth-griping tannins and high acidity with notes of blackberry, violets and dried rose. Pair with red meats, poultry, game, lamb, sausages, aged pecorino or parmesan cheeses.Fine tannins in the bottle will require decanting, open 30 minutes before to breathe.
