This single malt whisky from the Braes of Glenlivet is a timely release. A rare 1975 from the recently re-opened Braeval distillery, this still has the name ‘Braes of Glenlivet’, which was discontinued in 1994. This dram was distilled in 1975 and bottled in 2011, selected, produced and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail.
It is part of their famous Connoisseurs Choice collection, known as “the premier cru of single malt scotch”. For those of us unfamiliar to French, ‘cru’ translates in French to growth, or more specifically, a growth site. The Braeval distillery is a popular one amongst independent bottlers, and one sip of this is all you will need to see why.
