A mixed case of funky natural wines to titillate your palate, broaden your vinous horizons and keep your sense of adventure thriving!
All of the bottles in this case are natural wines at the wild end of our selection. This means that they may have features such as sediments, tartrate crystals and funky smells. That does not mean that they are bad in any way, it's a natural feature of natural wine. Buying a case will broaden your palate, so please don't tell us they smell funny!
Entre Vinyes, Funambul Brut Nature, 2016: a blend of 50% Xarel-lo, 25%
Macabeo and 25% Parellada. A very precise and refreshing cava from Penedes. Zero dosage.
Staffelter Hof, Magnus Riesling, 2018: wonderful dry Riesling from one of the world's celebrated regions. Zesty, fresh, floral, crisp, a wonderful match for most foods. Made by Jan Klein, the latest generation at the helm on this historical estate which has been in the family since 1805, but operating as a winery since 862...!
Atelier Kramar, Bohem, 2017: a very complex and aromatic orange wine, made from Friulano grape in Slovenia (65 yrs old vines). Flavours of ripe peaches and wild spices with a long finish and a subtle mineral backbone.
Azul y Garanza, Tres Tinto, 2018: juicy blend of Tempranillo (60%) and Garnacha (40%) from Navarra in Spain. Unoaked, spicy, very expressive aromatic, very immediate wine, very gluggable. Made by a dynamic trio who slowly converted an abandoned cooperative building in their village of Carcastillo to a fully operational winery. A huge commitment to biodiversity in the vines leads to wines of pronounced purity.
Lectores Vini, La Seleccion, 2018: fruit-led Grenache/Carignan from Montsant in Catalunya.
Red-fruited Grenache/ Carignan blend. Very pure fruit, no oak, a lovely bit of spice and floral notes. Medium-bodied, juicy!
Borgatta, Lamilla, 2014: a baby Barolo! Aged Dolcetta from a 83-yr old producer. Rustic, complex, showing beautiful development with notes of tobacco, leather, and tar. Proper stuff.
