Pantocrátor is a classic Rioja blend of Tempranillo with a small proportion of Mazuelo, harvested by hand from bush vines over 70 years old in Rioja Alta. After fermentation, the lots spend around a year in tank, then 18–24 months in American oak (vinified separately, then blended) followed by further time in tank and at least 6 years in bottle before release, giving remarkable complexity and polish. In the glass, expect deep colour and aromas of black cherry, liquorice and sweet spice, with nuances of nutmeg, cinnamon, coconut, tobacco and leather as it opens.
