A case full of classy reds from around the world.
Domaine Andre Colonge et Fils, Fleurie, 2018: "The 2018 Domaine André Colonge Fleurie could hardly be more different, being delicately perfumed, soft, silky and almost indecently succulent, crammed as it is with luscious red and black fruit. It’s such a great pleasure, Beaujolais as fine as this." Jonathan Ray Wine Spectator
Estancia del Silencio, Jumilla, 2018: This gorgeous red is made from 100% Monastrell and offers a charming nose of warm, fruity aromas. On the palate the dark fruits rise to the fore, backed by smooth creamy tannins. Jumilla always provides the perfect foil for a pizza and the Estancia del Silencio is no exception.
Poggio Argentiera, Podereadua, 2018: "Wow. A ripe gorgeous, ripe syrah with crushed-berry, spice, black-tea and dry-earth undertones. It’s medium-to full-bodied. Creamy, polished tannins on the palate. Flavorful and long." 94 pts, James Suckling
Castello Romitorio Rosso di Montalcino DOC, 2018:
"The 2018 Castello Romitorio Rosso di Montalcino takes time to blossom in the glass, yet it is totally worth the wait. A pretty and understated display of cherry and strawberry mixed with dusty earth, roses and hints of undergrowth opens nicely. Soft, silky textures flood the palate with ripe red and hints of blue fruit, sweet yet perfectly contrasted by saline-minerality, along with hints of fine tannin that slowly mount toward the close. The finish is remarkably long, as notes of dried wild berries, blueberry skins and hints of violet florals linger." 91 pts, Eric Guido, Vinous
Volpi Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC, 2018: "The 2018 Volpi Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is sister wine to the Grillo and likewise organic and vegan. Produced in Abruzzo, it’s a classic of its type, disarmingly succulent with plenty of rich, dark fruit, decent tannins and a fine savoury finish. Un-oaked, it’s a wine to enjoy in its youth, right here, right now." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine
Belle Etoile Merlot, 2019: "The 2019 La Belle Etoile ‘Décadence’ Merlot is an easy-going quaffing red from the Languedoc. With plenty of bramble fruit jam on the nose, lots of forward, juicy fruit in the mouth and just a touch of tannin, it slips down easily and is really rather jolly." Jonathan Ray, Spectator Wine
