After getting a bit of a bad reputation in the 70's and 80's; the Pinotage grape is slowly coming back into vogue after spending a while in the wilderness. Pinotage is actually a cross between the Pinot Noir & Cinsaut grape, this variety was first introduced back in 1925 and has now became South Africa's signature variety. With a portion of the wine been aged in oak for 8 months and then blended back in this adds a backbone of bold fruit & tobacco flavours with rich tannins- perfect with a Sunday Roast we'd say.
