With its craggy landscape basking in searing sunshine, the characterful Swartland has rightly garnered itself a superb reputation for full-throttle red wines. The large proportion of unirrigated old vines in the mix - all of them located on the famed rich schist and loam soils that the area is famous for - only adds to the allure. So it's no wonder that Jacques Theron's Cabernet Sauvignon vines are producing sensational fruit. The Three Gables was made in unison with Andrew Baker, our Head of Wine Buying, blending some incredibly intense old vine fruit, a wooded component for spice and depth, and some younger dry farmed vines for a refreshingly juicy element. It will partner beautifully with boerewors sausages accompanied with grilled vegetables, or spaghetti with your very finest meat ragu.
