Wine may be considered art by many, but it's the science behind each particular vineyard that shapes the character of the finished wine: location; climate, soil plus that little enigmatic something that the French call "terroir". This Shiraz hails from dry-farmed, old vineyards in the Riebeek valley - close to the sleepy town of Riebeek Kasteel. The climate here is hot and dry, and the lack of water means the vines have to dig really deep for these reserves in the soil below. This leads to naturally low yields and super concentrated flavours in the grapes.
