A deep straw yellow. A gentle, yet positive and persistent bouquet, with a note of ripe fruit accompanied by hints of crusty bread, hazelnuts and variegated floral aromas. Dry, elegant and well-balanced. It displays notable personality, with the intense fruity notes that are typical of Chardonnay accompanied by appealing nuances of vanilla and yeast that linger for a long time on the palate. About Ferrari Maximum Brut NV

Expert Reviews

Reviewed by Clinton Cawood, Imbibe For Your Cellar
Product reviewed: Ferrari Maximum Brut

A pioneer in Chardonnay in Trento, Ferrari produces metodo classico sparkling wines. We tried three blanc de blancs recently, starting with non-vintage Ferrari Maximum Brut a food-focused fresh offering, with apple and bread-crust notes, plus plenty of acidity. Perlé Blanc 2007 gets six years of ageing on the lees, and you can tell – this is toasted and savoury, with ripe red apple fruit. Finally, top-end Giulio Ferrari Riserva del Fondatore 2002 has boundless character, with full, tropical notes, alongside a mushroom-like savoury element too, leading to bright stonefruit flavours on a rich, full palate.

For something more left-field, try Ferrari Maximum, an elegant metodo classico sparkler from northern Italy...No connection with the car firm – apart from the name – but it looks the part and tastes a great deal nicer than most cheap champagne.
