When our friend and winemaker at Château du Seuil, Nicola Allison, approached us to say that her neighbour was producing a sulphur free wine which was impressively fruity, and in her words 'really is bloody good and VERY unusual for Bordeaux' we knew we had to take a look. She wasn't wrong! This barrel fermented Cabernet Sauvignon is not your typical Claret. It is bright ruby in the glass and on the nose there is an abundance of dark berry fruit with a hint of blackcurrant leaf, clove spice and bell pepper. These inviting flavours tumble out the glass and across the palate with softer tannins than your average Cabernet and there is a lovely fresh line of acidity which balances out the rich fruits. Simply stunning.
