There is a magnificence to this Meursault that cannot be ignored. It shows why the Chardonnay grape and the terroir of Burgundy are so revered. In 1720 the Monnier family established their domaine in the village of Meursault. Today the estate is run by direct descendants Jean-Claude and Nicolas Monnier. The limestone soils and old vines yield the definitive style of Meursault - rich, generous and ripe with a fresh, minerally streak of acidity. The Monniers' 2015 old vine cuvée was barrel fermented prior to ageing for 15 months in oak barrels, a third of which were brand new. This treatment lends a beautifully subtle and well-integrated toasted hazelnut character to the wine. Serve with layered terrines, roast chicken or creamy veal dishes.
