What is a Gueuze beer?
Gueuze is a sour Belgian ale made by blending different aged Lambics together. It then referments in bottle, like sparkling wine, and the end result is a dry Champagne-esque beer with funky, barnyard qualities and complexity. Thanks to the blending of old and new Lambics, the acidity balance tends to be more approachable for new sour beer drinkers.
The beer is thought to originate from Gueux in Belgium, where it is said to have been created by accident. Beers made in the old style are called "Oude Gueuze", because some more modern versions have had sweetners added to appeal to a wider audience.
