What is a Hazy Pale Ale?
Hazy Pale's straddle the line between a classic pale ale and IPA, with hoppy bitterness but not to the intensity of an IPA. Originally created as a New England Pale Ale, since gaining international acclaim they are more commonly now referred to as Hazy Pale Ales.
They are known for their pale, hazy appearance and smooth, almost creamy, texture. This is achieved through unfiltered brewing and using more grains like oats that add proteins which create the hazy hue.
Unlike a Hazy IPA which tends to turn up the hops even more than a traditional IPA, Hazy Pales are milder and usually lower in alcohol too. As a result, they tend to be extra juicy and fruity because there are less bitter hops taking center stage.
