What is a DIPA?

It is really what it says on the tin. Take a normal India Pale Ale, and add double the hops and malt. The extra hops promote bitterness or tropical fruit flavours (depending on the hops you use), whilst the malt gives a more toasty element and increases the alcohol percentage. Body tends to be more full too.

Generally, a DIPA is something you'll find from a craft brewer as it appeals to the more adventurous, hop-driven beer drinker. You will find these sometimes referred to as Imperial IPAs too.
