Rapel Valley Wines

The Rapel Valley is in Chile's Central Valley wine region, and runs south from Maipo Valley. It is a large wine producing area making nearly 1/4 of all Chilean wine. It's a warm, dry region that makes a range of wine styles, from regular big brands up to some expensive, prestigious offerings. The main grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Carmenère.

However, you rarely see the name Rapel Valley on any wine labels. This is because it is divided into two zones named after the rivers that merge to form the Rapel River: the Cachapoal Valley and the Colchagua Valley.
