Central Valley Wine

This region has always been at the heart of Chilean wine production. It is one of the largest and is the most important Chilean wine region, covering an area of around 400km, running from just south of Santiago, with the Maipo area down to Maule in the south. The northern parts of the central valley is where much of the investment in the 1980s into new wineries and vineyards took place, whilst the areas of Maule and Curico are more traditional.

Within the Central Valley, there are several important districts – Maipo, Cachapoal, Colchagua, Curico and Maule.
