Valencia Wine

Home to the beloved Valencian orange, Valencia is also a bit of a grape hub these days with modern prodcuers increasing quality and modernising their wine making. The climate is warm with many sub zones. The Alto Turia zone is cooler being located in the foothills of the Sistema Iberico mountain and famed for its wines made from Moscatel de Alejandría. The Valentino sub zone is warmer and on flatter land. Here you'll find Alicante Bouschet, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Monastrell for reds and rose and Macabeo for whites.

Of course, the most famous grape being Moscatel has an appropriately named Moscatel sub zone, which makes the sweet Moscatel de Valencia that you have most likely come across.
