Malleco Valley Wines
At present, this is the most southerly of Chile’s wine regions, although experimentation is happening even further south near Osorno. Like its neighbour Bio-Bio Valley, this region is very cool and has high rainfall, bringing greater risk of frost and disease.
It is still only home to very few producers and so is certainly one to watch as the quality potential gets explored futher. The best wines from here are currently proving to be the Burgundian pair, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Sauvignon Blanc is also showing very well as an aromatic, high-acidity wine.
