Choapa Valley Wines
Choapa is one of three DOs in the Coquimbo region. The climate is similar to its fellow more northerly Coquimbo DOs, Elqui Valley and Limari Valley with cooling breezes from the Pacific and the Andes mountain range combining in intense sunlight.
It is one of Chile's newest wine regions that only has very small production at the moment. So far, the best established varieties are Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, producing elegant expressions of the grape. De Martino has produced a high-quality Choapa Valley Syrah which has helped garner some attention for the region. It is definitely a place to watch.
