Champagne Vranken - The Art of Champagne
Whilst a relatively new Champagne brand, founded in 1976 by Paul-François Vranken, there is a lot of history behind the setting and origins of it all. The story of Vranken is wrapped up closely with art. Henry Vasnier, a parton of the arts and great friend of Madam Pommery, was the brains behind the building of Villa Demoiselle, a blend of Art Nouveau and Art Deco and where Champagne Vranken's head office now sits on the outskirts of Reims, right next to Maison Pommery. The house fell into ruin on Vasnier's death but was restored in 2008 by Paul-Francois and his wife Nathalie and is now an excellent addition to the Pommery tour.
Their close ties with Pommery put them under the Pommery-Vranken Monopole group but with a unique style of its own. That is, light, fruity and approachable Champagnes aimed to please a modern palate as a sort of aperitif Champagne.
Champagne Vranken's Primary Cuvees
Cuvées Diamant
- Vranken Cuvée Diamant Brut - An intense, elegant Champagne with floral and fruity aromas in abundance. The palate is well-rounded and has a nice toasty finish.
- Vranken Diamant Blanc de Blancs - A fine nose with white flowers and citrus evolves into a lemony cuvee with lemony tinged fruits and a long finish.
- Vranken Cuvée Diamant Grand Cru - A Grand Cru vintage that is both fresh and complex with spices, candied fruits and minerality.
- Vranken Cuvée Diamant Rose - Red berries and fruit coulis develop into a long, delicious finish.
Cuvées Demoiselle
- Demoiselle Brut E.O. - An array of flavour from green apple to buttery toast, enlivened with racing acidity and a smooth palate.
- Demoiselle Rose E.O. - Wild red berries and delicate pastry notes are held in a well balanced Champagne with real character.
- Demoiselle E.O. Brut Tête de Cuvée - A delicate and elegant wine with citrus and stone fruits mingling with floral notes. Age has brought honey and brioche in the mix for extra complexity.
